Vivid’s Zero-Cost Processing, also known as Cash Discount, is a way for merchants to offset their merchant service fees without increasing the sale price. Vivid’s flat rate is passed through to card-paying customers so that the merchant never gets billed a dime.
A cash discount is when you post credit card prices and offer a discount on that price for customers who pay with cash. A surcharge is when you post cash prices and charge an additional fee on top of that price for customers who pay with a card. Vivid provides you with the technology that allows you to offer discounts to your customers who chose to pay using cash which is allowed in all states.
Surcharging is only legal in 42 states.
The short answer is YES. Cash Discount programs are legal in all 50 states per the Durbin Amendment (part of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Law), which states that businesses are permitted to offer a discount to customers as an incentive for paying with cash.

We provide next business day funding as long as you close your batch by 11PM EST. If you settle after that time, your funds will be deposited within 2 business days. Same Day funding is available at request.

EMV refers to cards with small microchips in them that keep cardholder information more secure than a magnetic stripe. Each transaction has a dynamic authentication which is much, much harder to steal compared to skimming data from a magnetic stripe. EMV cards have been common in much of Europe and came to the US in October of 2015.
Near Field Communication (NFC) Payments represent the newest update to the payments ecosystem. Typically these payments are done using the customer’s mobile device and an NFC reader. The customer hovers or taps their phone on the reader, and the transaction is done in seconds. These payments are encrypted, just like EMV payments, but are processed much faster than magnetic stripe or EMV transactions.
